The Sharks hosted the Platinum Leopards in round 2 of the Currie Cup. The Sharks won 34 / 20, scoring 5 tries in the first half.

The match progressed much as I predicted, Sharks hit hard early and often with tries from Vulindlu, Mvovo and Andries Strauss.. and then again Andries Strauss… and was ahead 22 / 0 after barely 30 minutes, also having missed 3 conversions already but having bagged their bonus point for tries.

A converted intercept try from R W Kember as well as a penalty by Jean Tiedt made the Leopards’ score more respectable after early wayward kicking at goal by Clayton Durand.

Before halftime though the Sharks scored again, making the halftime score 27 / 10

After halftime the Sharks started bringing on replacement after replacement and one could see that their intensity levels had dropped and that they were playing a game to ensure minimum injuries.

The Sharks had cleared their replacement bench about 15 minutes before full time.

The Sharks kept attacking but could not penetrate the Leoppards sudden good defence and the Leopards actually “won” the 2nd half 10 / 7 after scoring yet another intercept try through Jovan Bowles and converting another Jean Tiedt penalty, compared to the Sharks solitary converted try by Albert van den Berg.

All in all a scrappy game, but mission accomplished for the Sharks who now jump to 45 Log points and straight into the semi-finals.

To say much more about this dour game would do injustice to rugby… this was a game of going through the motions for a champion team against a team which should not even be allowed to compete in the same competition.

Harsh words… very harsh… but true !

    @carol – 22

    Carol Sri-Lanka are 149-5 after 34 overs. England seem to be doing well here. As long as they keep bowling them out.

    @carol – 30

    Well I never done my picks yesterday as I had no internet. So that puts me behind already 😀 I am useless anyhows…hehe.

  • 33

    @Treehugger – Ooo right!! 😐 Thanks…

    Did you see someone on Voldy said what a ‘balanced’ blogger you were, (he had not seen you after a bottle of red wine)!! Hahahah

  • 34

    @Treehugger
    Yip, looking forward, especially the wife.
    But I will still have to live in both countries for a while, I have some unfinished business here, and the present economic situation doesn’t allow me quick closure.
    Besides, I like it here, have been here for so long now…..

  • 35

    @carol – No i will be at the bottom all the time and will develop a major complex 😆

  • 36

    @carol – Sorry that 33 was meant for Puma, I was going to say Hi to Treehugger, got a bit confused there!!

  • 37

    @Puma – Its all guesswork, that is unless you can bribe the players/officials!! 😉

  • 38

    @Treehugger – Look at EEE, Tripples she showed what the girls can do, she has a great crystal ball I am hoping to borrow!! she was top in the Tri Nations – Girl Power 😆

  • 39

    @carol
    Herllo Carol!
    Jeez, I had a good chuckle on you today, must tell you.
    I haven’t been back on Voldy for two months now, but someone here mailed me a clip of some discussion you had on there some time ago.
    Remember when you and RP had that ‘cat fight’ with Lilith?
    And Grant , the eternal paecemaker (bless his soul), told you, ‘Easy Carol, Lilithy isn’t so bad….’ Lility, mind you.
    Remember your retord?

    ‘What! The woman is a cow!!!!’
    First time I saw you that angry.
    Good barneys we used to have over there, I tell you….

    (Btw, Transformation has been banned, I hear, apparently for using abusive language towards the big ‘keohuna’.)

    @K9-MonsterLeeu – 41 – Gigilo is a rather more elegant word!! 8)

    @carol – No i havnt. Have never been called balanced in my life. Family and friends would have a good laugh at that, have been called a lot of other things thou
    :mrgreen: but i am going to take that as a compliment.One glass of red wine sends me to sleep,am not a good drinker,dont like the taste but overindulged yesterday badly, drank a whole bottle of Cape Velvet on crushed ice all by myself and i have had alcohol for boout 5 months so fell very rough today. Visitors left a couple of hours ago, they braa’d again and drank somemore. I stuck to theinstant Jacobs coffee and ciggies.

    Now which person on voldy said such a complimentary thing about me, so i can copy and paste it then show it to friends and family. 🙂
