The Springbok coach has caused a mini-stir in New Zeeland by explaining the Bokke’s late arrival in New Zeeland in his own special way.
When asked why the Bokke have not travelled to New Zeeland but chose to stay on the Gold Coast in Australia before they will eventually go to Hamilton in New Zeeland, he apparently said, in his own special style “There’s nothing in Hamilton !”
De Villiers added that they want to stay away from any negative Press.
The Bokke will only arrive in Hamilton on Thursday.
“We will only know afterwards if we did the right or wrong thing. One thing I’m always aware of is not to tire the guys out psychologically”
“It is also quite nice to be around positive reporting”, said De Villiers.
The typical De Villierism’s has not been met very kindly by a few New Zeelanders, who take exception against the stance he has taken. The statements by De Villiers has definately not endeared him with members of Hamilton or the people of New Zeeland in general.
Say what you like, our Bokke coach has his own “special” style to treating media.
Whatever the situation, let’s hope it works for the Springboks, who looked listless last Saturday against Australia and let’s hope the Gold Coast Surfer’s paradise manages to re-focus the Bokke.

Oh shyte!
@SA Barbarians – 61
Yeah, say that again. We in big poo I think. Odwa will now no doubt start and probably Frans will start at 14. Burger could start at 8 and Kanko on the bench.
Going to be tough for us.
Not too worried about Spies but Habs is a huge blow!!!!
Hello K9 see you logged in up there.

Massive blow to lose Habs. Damn his defence is so brilliant at the moment too. Really hope he can play. Think its on planet rugby that they say both are out for this Saturday.
@Puma – Howzit Puma. Is this Spies Habana thing for real?
@K9-MonsterLeeu – I am not 100% sure just read it on the other site. It seems to be on Planet Rugby. Will have to check it out.
@Puma – Oh okay…had a quick look there. They r highly doubtful.
I will Schalla at n08 and Kanko on the bench. Maybe play Adi at 13 and Mossie at wing.
@K9-MonsterLeeu – Looks like Spies has a hammie and Habs a groin strain. Thats what I read on the otherside still have not checked Rugby Planet yet.
@Puma – Checked Planetrugby……Spies groin….Habana hamstring…..
@K9-MonsterLeeu – Thought of that myself but thought JdV on wing and Adi at inside centre. Though JdV has been superb at inside centre and Mossie is playing so well at outside. Still have to wait and see.
Also hoping for Frans to start maybe at FB or even at 14. Wasted on the bench.
Okay guys …see u later. Need to eat.
@K9-MonsterLeeu – So its true then. Damn we in the poo boet. No back up wings at all.
Why did we only travel with a squad of 27? ABs came with 28. Then when we got injuries they were not replaced. Only eventually Muller going over only to sit out and not even on the bench. A waste actually he could be playing for the Sharks this weekend.
@K9-MonsterLeeu – Cheers K9. Me too back later.
@KingPaul – Habs is a HUGE, HUGE BLOW. No-one to replace him with.
@Puma – 75 If true this should even up a little more the injury count for both sides. No excuses please. Spies is not really a loss.
@JimT – 78
Habs is a huge loss though. Still hoping that he can play.
