The Jaque Fourie arbitration hearing started yesterday with Fourie himself being the first to testify.

The outcome and decision will probably only be heard by the end of the week. If the decision goes in Western Province’s favour, Fourie will most likely be rushed into the side in time for the semi-finals. Fourie is still suspended until the 3rd October due to the speartackle on Ma’a Nonu in the last game of the Tri-nations.

If the decision goes in favour of the Lions, it’s not certain if Fourie will feature at all for the Johannesburg side for the remainder of the season, as he has not attended any training sessions with the Lions on advice from his legal team.

If the Lions lose on Saturday against the Sharks, it will take them out of the running for a semi-final, and their final game of the season will be hosting Western Province at Coca-cola park the week after.

This will mean that Fourie will only play his first game since returning from Springbok duty, in the 2010 Super 14.
