The Sharks beat the Blue Bulls 29 / 23 this evening in their second round Currie Cup match, played in Pretoria.
Initially it was a game of penalties, with the Bulls doing better in this regard, eventually leading 12 / 6. This was also the Half Time score
Then the Sharks started taking full control of the match, putting the moves and phases together and scored 2 rapid tries in succession, to suddenly lead 20 / 12.
The Sharks increased their lead with another penalty and the Bulls were in a spot of bother, having to play catch-up rugby.
It was a hard match, typical uncompromising rugby, with Juan Martin Hernandez standing out with a very polished performance, even scoring a try. Hell he dropped, scored and placed !
The Bulls never gave up, clawed their way back via a Werner Kruger try, then gave away 3 points, then again re-capturing the 3 points, with 3 minutes to go… at this late stage trailing by 6 points.
In the dying minutes, the Blue Bulls built phase after phase, earning a couple of penalties, but a Fudge Mabeta knock sealed the Bulls fate when they were only 5m out from the Sharks line.
Make no mistake, the Sharks were full value for their win !
The Sharks now move top of the Currie Cup log, on 36 Log Points, with WP and Griquas both on 34 Log Points, the Cheetahs are on 29 Log points. The Bulls are now in 5th position with 27 Log points.

323@Loosehead –
Have you met Kingpaul? You must go there, what a nice guy, really.
I was home for 2 weeks in April. I will return to SA in exactly 3months, but only for Christmans and new years. But I miss SA, i must admit.
@carol – 326
My mate lives here on the estate too. So is with his family for the week. Will meet up with them next Friday. But we had two great nights of catching up on Thursday and Friday. Now its back to the health diet for me 🙁
@Puma – I doubt that the Boks will be allowed to play. But rather than have you Sharks supporters whine about us beating you without your Boks, lets hope that they play and the Mighty States klap you in any case.
329 @Stan – Ek’s hier!
327@carol –
Ja, some awesome weather we are having hey! I thought it might become colder already…
@carol – 326
Normally here in Umhlanga my house is like a hotel though 😆 Too many of those Scots that come over. Have 4 coming for the football world cup next year. They are lots of fun but hectic….hahaha.
@Puma – Dont think that the bokke will be fully batle fit next week we may cause an upset.and remember we love a chalange or have you forgotten the s14 already
@Loosehead –
I stayed over at KingPaul’s last November. He took us to a few place like Spier etc. We enjoyed it alot!
@Supa Die Bloubul – 335

Totsiens Loskop!
@smallies72 – 337
I know its tough when the Sharks/Bulls play against each other when full strength. Nothing better to watch.
Not sure if the Boks in both sides should play really they are so tired and need a rest. Should give them this week off and only bring them back the following week. Need them fit and ready for eoyt.
@K9-MonsterLeeu – 330 do you know, I was wondering if I was a bit hasty dumping W.P !! 😆
Okay everyone thats me out. Cheers all it was a great, great day of rugby today. Bokke you made us so proud.
GBS you have a great blog going here. Thanks for getting it going. Really enjoy it this side.
Now out of here. Cheers Carol enjoy the rest of your evening.

345@Puma – Cheers Oerwoudkat
Gooi Mieliessssssss
@Puma – 336 I was quite disappointed that I did not get to Umhlanga, still another good reason to return.
Enjoy your water this evening, when you look at your trim waistline in a few weeks time you will know it was worth it! 😉
@carol – 344
No you were not Carol. Bulls are a different team when they are full strength. WP lost to Cheetahs today and they are almost full strength. They wont match Bulls when Bulls are full strength.
Or you could come to the Sharks you know, even with Mr. Price on the front of the jersey 😀
Okay now out of here. Enjoy the rest of your evening Carol.
341 @Stan – Yip ek het. Jy het n merkwaardige ooreenkoms met n persoon wat vroeer jare op Keo se blog rondgehang het. Die persoon is blykbaar “geban”.
@Puma – See you soon Puma, so glad you found us here, it is such fun isn’t it?
@carol –
By the end of the season you will ne glad you are a Bull! No matter what…we won the most important trophy for a domestic team this year!
@Puma – now that makes sense
@carol – 349
Hoping Carol. Need to get the 3 kilos off still. Those damn Scots….hahaha. Water and eating healthy for the next few weeks it will all go.
Umhlanga is a lovely place you would have enjoyed it here. Always warm the sea and the weather is superb except the summer its too hot and humid. Winter is brilliant.
Now out of here. Cheers once again Carol.
@grootblousmile – Ons praat weer more Afrikaans Broer, geniet you naand! xx
