The Sharks beat the Blue Bulls 29 / 23 this evening in their second round Currie Cup match, played in Pretoria.
Initially it was a game of penalties, with the Bulls doing better in this regard, eventually leading 12 / 6. This was also the Half Time score
Then the Sharks started taking full control of the match, putting the moves and phases together and scored 2 rapid tries in succession, to suddenly lead 20 / 12.
The Sharks increased their lead with another penalty and the Bulls were in a spot of bother, having to play catch-up rugby.
It was a hard match, typical uncompromising rugby, with Juan Martin Hernandez standing out with a very polished performance, even scoring a try. Hell he dropped, scored and placed !
The Bulls never gave up, clawed their way back via a Werner Kruger try, then gave away 3 points, then again re-capturing the 3 points, with 3 minutes to go… at this late stage trailing by 6 points.
In the dying minutes, the Blue Bulls built phase after phase, earning a couple of penalties, but a Fudge Mabeta knock sealed the Bulls fate when they were only 5m out from the Sharks line.
Make no mistake, the Sharks were full value for their win !
The Sharks now move top of the Currie Cup log, on 36 Log Points, with WP and Griquas both on 34 Log Points, the Cheetahs are on 29 Log points. The Bulls are now in 5th position with 27 Log points.

So crack open a good bottle of red wine!!
@grootblousmile – 280 Thanks boeta but Bulls will get their Boks back next week and will be a different team.
Geluk aan al die spanne wat gewen het.
Geluk aan die Bulle wat bo aan die log is … met bonuspunte.
300@Stan –
Ja moer hom!!
298 @Puma – At least the Bulls lost to another Vodacom cup side today, unlike last weekend when they lost to a fully fledged Curry cup side. Gmph Go figure?
Congrats again Sharkies! Bulle are dissapointing me…eish. But the Boks won at least, so its a good day.
Did Terblanche just say that it is always difficult to play the Bulls at Coca Cola Park?
Curry cup?
( scratch head in confusion)
Is that a cup that the Charras play for?

Next week when Bulls and Sharks get their Boks back its going to be a different story for both teams. Bulls will win everygame from then on with out a doubt. Just need to catch up. They will still make the semi I have no doubt about it.

@Puma –
Congrats Puma. Sharks proved again they have the most depth in SA.
@Loosehead – hel ek wens ek was ook maandag in slaapstad
@Supa Die Bloubul – He lives about a k away from me. I am in Sonstraal Heights and he is in Kleinbron Estate.
When were you last home?
@Loosehead – Playing Cheetahs hey!!!!!!! Remember its at the tank too. hehehe. We will have our full strength team back 😀
Cheetahs were great today. Were supporting them all the way. Not next week though.
@Puma – 312 MORE guests, your house is like a hotel!! 😆

315 @Puma – Yip! Pretty much a no brainer. Plenty of class returning, unfortunately only a 1 or 2 for my team.
@carol – Carol…bet ur having second thoughts about ur bulls supporter decision? 🙂
