The Sharks beat the Blue Bulls 29 / 23 this evening in their second round Currie Cup match, played in Pretoria.
Initially it was a game of penalties, with the Bulls doing better in this regard, eventually leading 12 / 6. This was also the Half Time score
Then the Sharks started taking full control of the match, putting the moves and phases together and scored 2 rapid tries in succession, to suddenly lead 20 / 12.
The Sharks increased their lead with another penalty and the Bulls were in a spot of bother, having to play catch-up rugby.
It was a hard match, typical uncompromising rugby, with Juan Martin Hernandez standing out with a very polished performance, even scoring a try. Hell he dropped, scored and placed !
The Bulls never gave up, clawed their way back via a Werner Kruger try, then gave away 3 points, then again re-capturing the 3 points, with 3 minutes to go… at this late stage trailing by 6 points.
In the dying minutes, the Blue Bulls built phase after phase, earning a couple of penalties, but a Fudge Mabeta knock sealed the Bulls fate when they were only 5m out from the Sharks line.
Make no mistake, the Sharks were full value for their win !
The Sharks now move top of the Currie Cup log, on 36 Log Points, with WP and Griquas both on 34 Log Points, the Cheetahs are on 29 Log points. The Bulls are now in 5th position with 27 Log points.

Well done Sharks. Another thriller between these two great, great rugby sides.
Sorry my Bull mates here but when our Boks come back to our teams next week both teams will be playing a lot better. Think Bulls will still make the semi once their Boks are back.

@carol – 281
Its been a brilliant day for me Carol. First has to be the great win by the Boks in NZ and winning the Tri-Nations that just made my heart swell huge….hahaha. Now my Sharkies beating Bulls at Loftus where its so damn hard to play and win. Proud of my Sharks team too.
Remember though Bulls and Sharks are without so many great players and once they are back Bulls will start to climb the ladder again and I am sure they will be in the semi. Still think if they make the Semi they will make the final.
Still think its going to be a Sharks/Bulls final.
