The All Blacks, at home convincingly beat the Wallabies in the last Tri-Nations Game of 2009. All Blacks won 33 / 6 and the Wallabies won the WOODEN SPOON in the Tournament for 2009.

The All Blacks started strong, with clear intention to be on the come-back trail, dominating the first 6 minutes… also clearly intent on not kicking too much but rather running everything at the Wallabies.

The Wallabies fought back and took an early penalty lead but the All Blacks levelled the scores soon thereafter.

It was an exchange of penalties till the Cory Jane try, from an up-and-under kick.

The All Blacks went into Half Time 16 / 6 up.

The All Blacks intensified pressure and played the smarter game in the Second Half, denying ANY SCORE from the Wallabies. The All Blacks racked up 2 more tries, one from Ma’a Nonu and a last try from a swan-diving Joe Rokococo right at the death.

The All Blacks stood up well in all tight phases, Richie McCaw led from the front and for once, nothing worked in the Wallabie game plan.

The All Blacks showed determined and dogged defence and it is still clear that the All Blacks puts a great Premium on being among the best in World Rugby.

The New Zealand commentators expressed the fact that the Springboks deserved their Tri-Nations win.

Is it any coincidence that the IRB No 1 ranked Team won the Tri-Nations, the No 2 ranked Team came second and the No 3 Team came third ? I don’t think so !

Well done All Blacks, on this win.

Well done to another successfully completed Tri-Nations, the Premier International Competition, after the World Cup !

No Janne playing today, Eltons All Blacks in for a major surprise from Deans. Aussie team more settled than the AB,s , i pick Aus with 11.

  • 2

Blacks by 10, think they will bounce back and wannabies to lick their wounds…

  • 3

“APART from the wild wind that whipped through the New Zealand capital yesterday, the Wallabies are bracing themselves for the full force of a Daniel Carter gale in tonight’s Test that will determine the Tri Nations wooden-spooners”

“WHILE the calls for the All Blacks coaching staff to be sacked will intensify if they lose tonight, Wallabies coach Robbie Deans reminded all that he is under similar pressure”

The wolves are gathering at the door.

Check Stuff.co.nz tonight for live scoring, news and analysis.

Dead-rubber? Technically, yes, but, make no mistake, plenty is riding on tonight’s final Tri-Nations match between New Zealand and Australia.

Lose and the critics will multiply in numbers and volume, and the buildup to the end-of-year tour will descend into a fanatical inquisition.

The already under-fire coaches will be first, a New Zealand Rugby Union review sure to put the microscope on the three men it has trusted through to the next World Cup.

After six years at the helm, they have stuttered to four wins from eight tests this season and are one loss away from being compared with the records of the 1949 and 1998 sides, widely considered to be the worst in All Blacks history.

The All Blacks have never been beaten three times at home in one year and coaches Graham Henry, Steve Hansen and Wayne Smith will not want to create history.

@superBul – Wat dink jy ou maat gaan hul history maak vanaand?

  • 6

    @Scrumsaam – 5

Which brings us to the other by-product of a poor All Blacks performance the players. Wing Joe Rokocoko and prop Neemia Tialata could be playing for their careers. Lock Tom Donnelly will be hoping a lineout meltdown does not see him added to the list of one-test wonders.

Halfback Jimmy Cowan must find a running game to complement his defence he could watch young Wallaby Will Genia and Mils Muliaina the confidence that has ebbed away as the season progressed.

Even McCaw needs to restamp his authority over a side that has not jelled as a cohesive unit befitting their jersey.

If you don’t produce results, criticism follows.

That’s the way the cookie crumbles. Or is it?

  • 8

@superBul – Hel “playing for thier careers” they must put their body on the line or get of from the blacks bus…. ek dink hul verwag teveel van McCaw en Carter haal daai twee uit die game en die game is 80% in the bag…

  • 9

@Scrumsaam – Thats how that pressman feels, but its nice to see them in deep poo and not us with all the excuses.
