Vodacom WP captain Puke Watson is, as was expected, back to lead his side in the Absa Currie Cup match against the Lions at Newlands on Saturday.

WP head coach Allister Coetzee on Wednesday announced his team for the game that start at 17:05.

In two curtain raisers to the main match, the Vodacom WP u19 team take on their Lions counterparts at 13h10, and the u21ยดs do battle at 14h40.

Lock Anton van Zyl is back in the starting line-up after missing last Saturday’s victory over the Boland Cavaliers in Wellington. He takes over from All Black veteran Chris Jack and will be forming a second-row partnershiop with Adriaan Fondse, who made his return last weekend after a long lay-off due to injury.

Jack is on the substitutes’ bench. Watson is back in place of Pieter Louw, who played at No 8 after the former had to withdraw on Friday night because of a bout of the ‘flu. He also takes over the captaincy from Tiaan Liebenberg.

Liebenberg has been declared fit after missing Monday’s training session due to a few bumps and bruises he picked up against Boland. Ditto for prop Wicus Blaauw, who suffered a rib injury against Boland.

Scrumhalf Bolla Conradie loses his place on the bench to Conrad Hoffmann.
