    LIONS
    Eish whats going on at the Lions. That new coach is not going to do the things there.

    read this.

    Lions coach Hans Coetzee was satisfied with his side picking up a losing bonus point at Newlands.

    The Lions lie in sixth spot on the log after the first round of fixtures, edging ahead of the Cheetahs due to the point gained from losing to Western Province by five points. Coetzee said sides struggle to earn a point at Newlands, although the Lions will now have to start winning fixtures if they are to have any hope of reaching the play-offs.

    Although the Lions’ chances of reaching the semis are fading every week, Coetzee stressed there is an ultimate goal.

    ‘We are in a unique situation,’ he said. ‘Obviously we want to do well in the Currie Cup, but at the same time we’re trying to look at the talent at our disposal, while we’re also preparing for the Super 14.

    Ah, some more positives for that famous Lions drawingboard. That drawingboard must be huge to accommodate all the positives that’s been collected over eight years.

    At 10 they need drastic a change. Herkie’s a very good set-kicker but he’s general game is not up to the required standard. On current evidence he’s not what the Lions need for the S14 and to use him further in the CC will forde the Lions to use a completely new person in the S14, or use Herkie who’s not performed in the position. Now is the time to experiment with someone like Jantjies from the u/21 team.

    When will Rose run out of chances? The Lions have stuck to him for years now without getting postive returns on their investment in faith/patience/money/etc. The huge talent is a myth at this level it seems. The guy can’t tackle and it seems no-one knows how to get him to improve this aspect of his game. He seems to be soft between the ears and this translates to attitude problems (as seen in his defensive efforts).

    Jake + Hans … it’s time to make harder changes. Take some of the youngsters and give them a go in the last CC games. See what you have in them … you may just get a surprise or two. The donkeys you’ve been selecting will not suprise us, we know that, don’t you?

    I for one believe that the Lions are at the start of an up.
    Sure they are sucking on the hind-tit at the moment, but I see something there.
    JW is starting something and it is sure to show in the near future.
    There is a definite structure on the field and the team seems to have more oemph.
    Agree about the 10 and Rose though.

    Hello daar.
    Jou gemis gister tydens die wedstryd .

    @superBul

    Super, die ouens is keelvol vir Rose wat elke week speel. Ek stem saam Katsesnor. Hoeveel kanse kry hy?
    Die Leeus se probleem vir my is eerstens hulle het geen spelers met toets ervaring en hulle kort ORDENTLIKE diepte. Ek sien De Wet Barry is kaptein van OP. Gaffie Dut Toit speel vir die Arende (How the mighty have fallen!) Daai ouens is seker nie die beste nie, maar het jare se Bok ervaring en oorsese ervaring. As hulle kontrakte by OP en SWD het, moet die Leeus hulle tog kan bekostig? Ek se nie hulle is noodwendig sterre nie, maar daai ouens kan maklik n Herkie Kruger, Earl, of Doppies vervang. Of dit kan die span meer diepte bied want ek dink hulle sukkel regtig sonder Alberts, Heinke, Walter, Cobus ens.

    This is so out of JW book

    “Ah, some more positives for that famous Lions drawing board”

    Just worrying to see how they stopped scoring tries, by far the lowest of the big Unions.

    @Pietman – Hi Pietman. Nuwe uncapped gevat en hulle sou Vrydag ingesit het. Toe koop ek nie data bundle. Daag die boggers nie op nie. So terug op Vodacom tot more.

    Gaan dit daar. Sien nie Noorde wil gesels met julle.

    Wat dink jy vir Saterdag. Daai twee spanne het mooi gespeel gister.

    @Supa Die Bloubul – Supa, ek stem. Gaffie moet beter wees as Rose en Kerkie.

    By the way, Jake was saam met op die vliegtuig vanaf George Vrydag. Het egter nie lekker kans gekry om met hom te gesels nie.

  • 9

    No pun intended – Kerkie = Herkie

    @Boerboel

    More. Ek dink selfs Barry is beter as kaptein van die OP. Ek is seker die Leeus en Cheetahs kan doen met De Wet in hulle squad minstens. Selfs die Bulle (en ek weet baie gaan my nou weer klippe gooi :lol:) het nogsteeds nie n ordentlike plaasvervanger vir WO nie of op buitesenter nie. Die jong ouens sukkel nog.
