Chris Jack is back in the Vodacom Western Province starting lineup after injury ruled out Adriaan Fondse.

Vodacom WP take on the Sharks in Durban on Saturday (15:00 on SS1)  in an Absa Currie Cup first round match. Fondse has been ruled out with a knee injury that will keep him out of action for the rest of the season.

Jack replaced him last week against the Lions and he will add experience and skill to the second row. Flyhalf Peter Grant and centre Juan de Jongh were both declared fit after there were concerns about their fitness earlier this week. Both of them sat out Monday´s training session in Bellville. Grant was almost forced out of the Lions game due to a back spasm. Both, however, trained on Tuesday and were duly included in the team for Saturday´s big clash.

The Vodacom WP team is as follows:

15. Joe Pietersen
14. Tonderai Chavhanga
13. Juan De Jongh
12. Morgan Newman
11. Gio Aplon
10. Peter Grant
9. Dewaldt Duvenage
8. Puke Watson (C)
7. Duane Vermeulen
6. Francois Louw
5. Anton Van Zyl
4. Chris Jack
3. Brok Harris
2. Tiaan Liebenberg
1. Wicus Blaauw

Reserves:

16. Deon Fourie
17. JD Moller
18. De Kock Steenkamp
19. Pieter Louw
20. Bolla Conradie
21. Frikkie Welsh
22. JJ Engelbrecht

    Rose to beat the Blues.

Jody Rose has signed a 2 year contract with the Blue Bulls. Brother
Earl is set to follow soon as negotiations are currently taking place between the Golden Lion Rugby Union and the Blue Bulls.

The two brothers are much exited as they feel they can do a lot to improve a struggling
Blue Bulls backline. Morne Steyn having one foot on the airplane to France is not helping
Matters in the Blue Bulls camp at all. This might be the break Earl has been waiting for.
He will now play his preferred position as flyhalf.
Coach Frans Ludeke is ecstatic with the signing of Jody, and says he hopes that Earl can join them for next years S14.

I have personally taken up the position of slating Earl Rose at any opportunity which has presented itself over the last few seasons. My dad took me to Ellis Park as a kid and it was amazing, even losses were nothing worth getting upset about, we were such a proud union. My girlfriend, our friends, strangers and News24 readers seem to agree that he is possibly the most talent-less individual to ever play rugby.
Can anyone please tell me when he impressed. I have only see him single-handedly lose games for a team. It is so frustrating for me that he plays and plays and plays but all he does with consistent selection is drop high balls, miss tackles, throw hospital passes, promote poor positional play and kick the ball directly to opposition defenders.
I used to write about him as a joke, but its worn thin. It isn’t funny anymore, but this still is… http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=59doAVmMExU (Howlett nailed Rose)
I suspect there is a chance he wasn’t at training with the Lions cos he has been called to join the Boks on tour. Then i will truly know that something about this player is amiss. I wouldn’t play him if i was the Leopards coach.
The Lions won a special game against the Highlanders this season, i had forgotten what winning felt like and it was awesome. Earl Rose did everything in his power to lose that game for the team. If Loffie hadn’t moved him from flyhalf to wing to get him out of the game, we would have lost… and that sums it up totally. He has not put a foot in the right direction, CANT ANYONE SEE IT?
Our last home game had the players up on the big screen all just their names but Earl came up with a “superstar” banner on it!?! The crowd said “boo”. surely the union will listen to the fans. Can one player make me not want to go to watch the lions anymore?
Over it, and i love them so much, sorry.
lions to lose by 15, Bokke to win by 12, enjoy the games.
