Springbok coach Peter de Villiers made two changes, including naming Ruan Pienaar at fullback, to tackle the Wallabies in Saturday’s Mandela Trophy/Tri-Nations Test in Perth.

As expected Pienaar moves from the bench, where he started the previous Test against Australia at Newlands on August 8, to fullback in the place of Frans Steyn, who is amongst the replacements.

The other change sees Schalk Burger returning to the bench in the place of Danie Rossouw, who is recovering from an injury.

Scrumhalf Fourie du Preez will earn his 50th Test cap for South Africa on Saturday.

South Africa: 15 Ruan Pienaar, 14 JP Pietersen, 13 Jaque Fourie, 12 Jean de Villiers, 11 Bryan Habana, 10 Morné Steyn, 9 Fourie du Preez, 8 Pierre Spies, 7 Juan Smith, 6 Heinrich Brüssow, 5 Victor Matfield, 4 Bakkies Botha, 3 John Smit (captain), 2 Bismarck du Plessis, 1 Tendai Mtawarira.
Replacements: 16 Chiliboy Ralepelle, 17 Jannie du Plessis, 18 Andries Bekker, 19 Schalk Burger, 20 Ricky Januarie, 21 Adi Jacobs, 22 Frans Steyn.

    Jeez..the Lions are being robbed of their best players…first Mossie, now Ludik.

  • 32

    @grootblousmile
    True, no need.

  • 33

    @Supa Die Bloubul
    Ludik, going where?

  • 34

    @K9-MonsterLeeu

    I hear you. We need another Bok flyhalf though. If he is in Europe and Morne gets injured, who next in line?

  • 35

    @grootblousmile

    Snorre wont pick Terblance and Ludik. And unfotunately he has the last say. He will picking Jantjies once he is fit again.
    Ek sien jy se dankie vir Koos wat artikels plaas, wat van hierdie bul broer wat sy trots in sy sak gesteek het en ook artikels geplaas het??? 😯

    @Pietman

    Sharks Pieta. He was seen at the training. Appartently he might join up there soon.

  • 37

    @Supa Die Bloubul – Ruan should worry about himself. He is being tossed around in SA…….it is not his problem…who is next in line. Snorre can sleep in the bed he made for himself.

  • 38

    @K9-MonsterLeeu

    Ja, and its not just Snorre, Jake did the same thing. I think the Sharks kinda repspected the higher authority and always chose him where theBoks wanted him.

  • 39

    @K9-MonsterLeeu

    Mossie made the right choice years ago. He started at flyhalf, then played wing and then SETTLED at 13. He can still cover other positions if he must, but he is settled at 13.

    again people will have big mouths about F steyn and Ruan when they say they want to specialise in a position

    and its about what big heads they have and blah blah flucking blah

    but here again the sharks players are being shafted and stuffed around, and us as supporters take it out on these players

    To Fransie : good luck son , go where you talents will be appreciated and you will atleast be treated well

    Ruan i guess only a matter of time before your patyience runs out

    Its on the homepage the article.

  • 47

    Good Morning Supa

  • 48

    @Supa Die Bloubul – correct. Ludik will move to Durban assuming he can get out of his Lions “contract”

  • 49

    @sharky_forever

    Morning chomma! Whats up in Sharksworld? Ready for the weekend?

  • 50

    50!

  • 51

    @Supa Die Bloubul
    @39
    Mossie’s first test for the Boks was at fullback, would you believe?
    Against the AB’s at Rustenburg.
    He played there for Lions Cravens en Monnas as well.

  • 52

    oh ok thanks @Supa Die Bloubul

  • 53

    @robdylan

    Is his contract coming to an end? Or is it as “tight” as Mujatis?

  • 54

    Oh, welcome to all the browsing Guests…. you’re welcome…

  • 55

    @sharky_forever – yes, but saying in an interview that he’d like another bash at the Bok jersey is not the same thing as saying he’s definitely coming back to the Sharks. I think you’re getting way ahead of yourself there 🙂

    Straueli wouldn’t contract him anyway

  • 56

    @Supa Die Bloubul – his contract expires end 2010, same as Mossie’s… but apparently they’re all as “tight” as Mujati’s, so who knows?

  • 57

    @Pietman

    I remember it well Pieta. He use to date a girl a knew in my first year in Kruinsig. He was an excellent fullback at even 19 years. He, Derick, Hougaardt, Wynand, Habana were all born 1983 I think. Same as me.

  • 58

    @Pietman – He played centre at monnas and cravens. My son was the lucky winner of always playing against him since u/13. But he did stand in at FB or flyhalf sometimes.

  • 59

    Well, I wouldn’t want to play against Frans Steyn. He kicks the ball miles and that was a contributing factor in recent games as he just pinned the opposition in their own half with those monster kicks. There is no one in world rugby that will take FS on with a kicking contest, and win. The opposition teams know this, hence the reason why they mostly kick to kick out.
    FS is the best fullback we have and this shifting players is obviously Snorre thinking of the post FS era.

    @robdylan

    I feel for the Lions though…they need the quality.
